eNewsletter 2024 Term 4, Week 6
We are delighted to announce the 2025 dates for Catholic Education Week and Catholic Schools Open Week.
Catholic Education Week will take place between Monday May 12 – Sunday May 18 (Term 2, Week 3). We are excited to be giving the week a refresh this year – further details to come in early 2025.
The Catholic Education Awards South Australia will take place on Thursday May 15 in Adelaide. Nominations will open on January 20, 2025. We will send out further information at the start of Term 1 so that you can encourage nominations from within your community.
Catholic Schools Open Week will take place between Monday August 4 – Sunday August 10 (Term 3, Week 3). This is two weeks earlier than in 2024 so all activity will be brought forward. We will have more information on this early next year.
In addition, please click here to view the Communications & Marketing Professional Learning calendar for 2025. This is brimming with learning opportunities which we hope will be invaluable to you and your team. We will send a reminder early next year when bookings open through the Registration Centre.

The Advertiser will be running a series of stories following the announcement of SACE results on Monday December 16.
If you would like to be considered for inclusion, please find some story angles and opportunities below. Please email Lauren Novak and Shashi Baltutis directly with your stories or for more information: Lauren.Novak@news.com.au and Shashi.Baltutis@news.com.au (copy both in).
Please run all opportunities past your principal in advance of submitting and where any students are named seek theirs and their parent/carer’s permission in advance.
Interviews with individuals will most likely be requested and either a photographer sent out or a request for photos to be submitted.
- The Advertiser is interested in individual student ATAR scores – this may be students who have done exceptionally well and are the Dux of the school, but also students with a compelling story or who have overcome adversity in their life.
- They will also be writing a story on schools’ median ATARs – does your school have a great success story?
- Do you have any students receiving a SACE commendation or merit award? Or perhaps a student who was nominated but just missed out?
- Do you have a story to tell about students receiving their University and TAFE offers in December / January? Has your school recorded the highest number to date? Or the first student for a particular course?
The SACCS Annual Report is produced in a digital format.
Please send us your most beautiful and engaging high resolution images from the 2023 school year via email or a sharing platform as soon as possible.
Please ensure all images have the appropriate consents for use by CESA.
Thank you for your continued support in supplying such amazing photos to represent your school!
Send your photos to Siobhan.Evans@cesa.catholic.edu.au
As your school marks the end of year with concerts and thanksgiving masses please send through a couple of images which we can include in a group post to celebrate community. We will post this in the final week of term.
If you have students participating in any local Christmas pageants please send through photos and details. The Southern Cross may do a story on this and we can promote through the CESA Facebook page.
Please send photos to Rebecca.Vella@cesa.catholic.edu.au
The Southern Cross newspaper’s February 2025 issue will feature stories and photos celebrating outstanding student achievements. They are on the lookout for stories and would love to hear of any ideas and leads before the Christmas break begins. These can include anything from Year 12 cohort achievements, to tales of students overcoming adversity. Send Katie Spain any ideas you have.
In mid-January, the Southern Cross will also organise a Year 12 Class of 2024 photoshoot featuring duces from Catholic schools across the Archdiocese.
Send dux information and scores to Katie Spain no later than noon on Tuesday December 17. Please provide a current email address (sometimes the school emails have already been de-activated) and mobile number if possible, for the student, or that of a parent/guardian. Please make sure that Katie has up-to-date contact details for best person to approach at your school for dux updates over the holidays.
