Thank you for helping us represent the incredible work happening in your school!
We’re excited to welcome Lisa, Bernadette, and Sothea to the team! Be sure to say hello and make them feel at home if you get the chance.
Lisa brings a wealth of experience in communications and public relations, having worked in a various agency and media roles over her career.
Most recently, Lisa has been the Senior PR and Communications Manager at CALLIE in Adelaide, where she has led the development and implementation of high-level communication and public relations strategies.
Lisa’s strategic and outcomes driven approach has helped her deliver targeted and successful PR campaigns for clients both locally and nationally.
She has worked across a range of industries including Government departments, education, aged care and health, the not-for-profit-sector, professional services and SME’s. This includes iconic South Australian brands and organisations such as the State Library of South Australia, the Electoral Commission of South Australia, Bedford, and Meals on Wheels SA.
Lisa and her husband, Josh have three young (and active) boys and on weekends she can be found on the sidelines cheering them on at various sports!
We asked: "Hey Lisa, what’s a skill you have that would totally surprise us?"
Lisa: "Auskick footy coach - I wouldn't claim it as a skill as such, but lots of fun and lots of chaos trying to teach a group of 5-year old's about a sport you have little experience in!"
Meet Bernadette Romeo, one of our new Communications and Marketing Officers at Catholic Education South Australia (CESA).
Bernadette joined CESA in December 2024, bringing her expertise in communication, design and marketing to the role. She has experience in creating materials that enhance brand identity and tells engaging stories for school communities.
She looks forward to contributing to Catholic Education South Australia’s mission by crafting authentic and effective communication that supports schools and inspires educational opportunities for all.
We asked: "Hey Bernadette - what’s your go-to karaoke song, and how good are you at singing it?"
Bernadette: "Tequila by The Champs. I never forget the lyrics, and it’s perfect for my vocal range. However, I’d say there’s barely a difference between my voice and someone like… oh, Celine Dion."
Sothea has a strong background in communication, marketing, and events, having gained valuable experience through internships at digital marketing and public relations agencies.
Most recently, she transitioned into the education sector, working within the Department of Education at various schools. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing social media management and developing content that strengthens brand identity while crafting compelling narratives for school communities.
Her passion for social media started at the age of 13 when she taught herself to code to customise her Tumblr page. Since then, her skills have evolved, and she has become an expert in digital content creation and building a strong online presence across multiple platforms.
During her time at university, Sothea worked as a swimming instructor, which sparked her love for teaching children. Now, combining her passion for both education and marketing, she's thrilled to be working at Catholic Education South Australia.
We asked: "Hey Sothea, what’s a food you irrationally love or hate—and why?"
Sothea: “I hate Cow’s milk! It’s like my tongue just got stuck in a wool sweater – all fuzzy and uncomfortable. But ice cream? Oh, that’s a whole different story! So yeah, milk's a "no thanks," but ice cream's always a "yes, please!"
Do you have a new person in a Communications or Marketing role who would benefit from receiving updates? If so, please let us know here (if you haven't already done so) for them to be put on the distribution list for eNewsletters such as this one…
