New Catholic school for Adelaide’s north

Catholic Education South Australia is excited to announce that its newest school will open in Riverlea Park in 2027. Families can register their interest now at: www.cesa.catholic.edu.au/riverlea

The new school will be the 120th Catholic school campus delivered in South Australia and will cater for students from early years all the way through to Year 12.

The school will meet the needs of the growing population in Walker Corporation’s Riverlea development and the surrounding regions with construction of the school expected to start in 2025.

Located just 25 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, the school will be the first for the masterplanned community, which will eventually be home to over 40,000 residents.

The state-of-the-art Catholic school will include:

  • Innovative multi-storey design
  • Contemporary classrooms and facilities designed to support the school’s extensive curriculum and facilitate quality learning experiences
  • An ELC for children from 6 months – 5 years, plus an OSHC available to enrolled students.

The school will open at the start of the 2027 school year for students from Reception to Year 6 and will progressively grow to cater for all year levels. Stage 1 of the build is expected to cost in excess of $60 million, with around 1,300 people expected to work on construction of the school.

Comments from Project partners:

Dr Neil McGoran, Executive Director, Catholic Education South Australia:

“We are pleased to be expanding our provision of quality Catholic education to families in the northern suburbs. The school will be the 120th Catholic school campus in South Australia. This follows the successful development of new campuses at Two Wells, Davoren Park and Renmark in recent years. In May, we also announced plans to open a new school in Strathalbyn in 2029.

“This new school development is part of our commitment to expanding Catholic Education pathways and building an even stronger focus on student learning and quality teaching.”

Mr David Gallant, Managing Director and CEO, Walker Corporation:

“We are proud to partner with Catholic Education to bring our first school to Riverlea, giving thousands of families access to high quality education and the opportunity to stay at the same school from early learning, right through to high school.

“The new school is conveniently located in the heart of the first neighbourhoods we are building to ensure kids and parents only have a short walk from their front door to the school gates.

“Quality education has always been one of the central pillars in our vision for Riverlea, along with recreational facilities and wide-open spaces, shops and restaurants, transport and connectivity, all just 25 minutes' drive to the city.”

Sonia Kandel, Riverlea resident:

“It was really important to us when we chose to move to Riverlea that our son would have access to great education and amenities close to home, so it’s exciting knowing that when he’s ready to go to school, he can be at the same one from beginning to end with his friends from the area.”

Chloe Hallam, Riverlea resident:

“We’re building our home at Riverlea, and we can’t wait for our kids to be able to walk to and from school in a safe environment and learn locally with other children who live nearby.”
