“There are quite a few similarities between Certification and a marathon. You start off and you think it’s going to be smooth sailing. You come across some road bumps within the journey, but there’s some incredible moments along the way.”

The lead teacher certification was implemented in 2013 and nearly 300 teachers have been awarded this recognition since then. The AITSL website tells us that lead teachers are recognised and respected by colleagues, parents/carers and community members as exemplary teachers. They have demonstrated consistent and innovative teaching practice over time. Inside and outside the school they initiate and lead activities that focus on improving educational opportunities for all students. Congratulations to Matthew on his outstanding achievements.
