World Teachers Day, celebrated in Australia this year on October 25, offered a chance to thank all teachers with the ‘Hats Off’ theme, acknowledging the invaluable contributions they make to our communities.
As part of the annual World Teachers’ Day celebrations, Educators SA hosted a gala awards evening to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our state’s outstanding educators.
This year's Educators SA Awards ceremony was held at the Adelaide Oval and attended by more than 300 invited guests, with awards presented by Blair Boyer MP, Minister for Education, Training and Skills and Martin Westwell, Chief Executive of the Department for Education.
66 awards were presented to outstanding educators from all sectors and all aspects of education, including five recipients from Catholic schools:
Tiffany, Brittany and Adriana each receive $8000 as part of their scholarship to undertake professional learning.
Tiffany will use her award to attend courses to gain a Certificate in Art Therapy, workshops in Circle Painting and will attend the Zart Art Conference in 2025. These experiences will support her in her educational objectives to create safe learning environments and to enhance student wellbeing.
Brittany will be using her award to develop a relationship with two key leaders at UniSA to develop her jewellery and metal learning programme. She will also be travelling to New York to explore art resources and participate in classes at the Jewellery Design institute.
Adriana is using the scholarship for an intensive Italian language course at the Leonardo Da Vinci School in Florence. She is looking forward to the positive impact connecting with native speakers will have on her fluency and cultural insights.
Nidhi was an exceptional student of the School of Education, completing her studies with a double Major of Business, and English as an Additional Language and Dialect. Nidhi has secured employment at Christian Brothers’ College.
For more than 33 years, Keiko has been a dedicated leader in Japanese education in South Australia, inspiring students and building successful programs. Her passion for the language and culture has motivated countless students to pursue Japanese studies, including organizing immersive trips to Japan.
Catholic Education SA extends their congratulations to all nominees and award winners on receiving the highest acclamation and recognition from their peers.
