Student artists from Mary MacKillop College, Kensington attended the Catholic Education Office of SA on Tuesday 22 March to open their exhibition 'Still Life in Pastel'.
Amongst those who attended were the wonderful and talented artists:
Victoria, Zara, Loren, Christina, Natalie, Sarah, Luiza, Sidonie, Mina, Elisabeth and Helen.
In his opening speech, Bruno Vieceli, Assistant Director, Religious Identity & Leading Learning at CESA said:
"In these wonderful still life drawings we are invited to encounter the subject through the eyes and emotions of the artist, how they interacted with the subject of their drawing, with light, colour, technique and media.
These artists have been inspired by their practical and theoretical study of historical and contemporary still life artworks. Through their observational skills, knowledge of medium and exploration of technique they have created striking compositions.
The students studied the compositions of various classical and modern artists and presented their own interpretation of everyday objects in a still life composition."
The work of these young and talented artists was commended. Their artworks are on display at the Catholic Education Office for remainder of the term.
Twenty students from Catholic schools in South Australia have been named among the winners in two major state-wide Humanities competitions.
Earlier this year, senior school students from across South Australia were invited to enter the 2024 Premier’s Anzac Spirit School Prize and the Muriel Matters Awards.
