Facilitated by the Tea Tree Gully Council, a group of our Stage 2 Society & Culture students at Gleeson College have the opportunity to work with the wonderful Elders from the Gully Winds Group as part of a collaborative Reconciliation project to be held at Gleeson College over the next four weeks. Both groups are working together to create a range of products that will be available for sale to the public, in a microshop at the Tea Tree Gully Council on Wednesday 1 June. All proceeds raised will be donated to Recognise Australia to support projects and initiatives for young Aboriginal people in communities across Australia.
This Wednesday, after learning dot painting techniques from Greg, a Gully Wind Elder, students and Elders painted small canvases and commenced hemming the fabric for bandanas – just some of the products to be sold at the upcoming micro-shop. It was a terrific experience for all involved and the College extends a big thank you to all those who attended and made this such a rich experience for students
