St Raphael’s middle school students have been busy developing websites, designing logos, creating online questionnaires, writing business plans, exploring budgets and manufacturing products in the lead up to their Business Expo which was held on Friday 17th June. This exciting Business Expo took place between 11am and 1.30pm and was open to the school community.
As part of their studies in Humanities and Social Science (HASS), Technologies and Mathematics this term, middle school students have been working in groups to create a business that sells simple products that would appeal to students at St Raphael’s. Each group has developed a business plan that summarises their idea and provides details of the resources they needed to develop their business and create their product to sell at the Business Expo.
Students have been using their HASS lessons to get ready for the expo including creating a marketing campaign. They will also be using some of their Mathematics lessons to explore budgets (expenses, income, profit and loss) as well as some of their Technology lessons to design a market research questionnaire, a digital logo and website.
Students came up with many interesting ideas for their products including key rings, lip balm, friendship bracelets, sideshow games, DIY craft kits and of course some delicious food options! Students received support from their ‘investors’ (middle school teachers) and were provided with some of the materials they needed to create their products.
All profits made during the Business Expo are being donated to charity.
Twenty students from Catholic schools in South Australia have been named among the winners in two major state-wide Humanities competitions.
Earlier this year, senior school students from across South Australia were invited to enter the 2024 Premier’s Anzac Spirit School Prize and the Muriel Matters Awards.
