New graduates for country schools

There was high engagement when over thirty graduating teachers attended an Expo outlining opportunities for teaching in Catholic Education SA’s (CESA) country schools last Thursday. The country teaching expo offered insights into working in schools in rural settings. Three teaching ambassadors provided their insights: Sara in her first year of teaching at St Anthony’s, Millicent; Raini, an early career teacher, at St Joseph’s, Peterborough and Kate with six years’ experience from St Barbara’s, Roxby Downs via video link.
Incentives for country teachers and support for early career teachers were outlined by CESA staff. The formalities were followed by the sharing of refreshments and an opportunity for the graduates to discuss teaching possibilities with principals of CESA’s 18 country schools. 13 of these schools are in the Port Pirie Diocese, from as far north as Roxby Downs and five are in the Archdiocese of Adelaide stretching as far south as Penola.
