Thomas More College Art Exhibition at Thebarton

Talented student artists, Year 8-12, along with their Art/ Design/ Technology teachers from Thomas More College, Salisbury, attended their exhibition launch at the Catholic Education Office at Thebarton on 19 September.

Helen O’Brien, Director of Catholic Education SA, congratulated the artists on their amazing creativity and skilled techniques.

“Keep opening that artistic space within you,” she said.

Helen spoke of art’s ability to nurture us. Quoting Picasso: “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls,” she said.

Helen thanked the artists for allowing their art to be showcased in the foyer, enriching the lives of staff and visitors.

The students engaged in deep conversations with staff members who were enthralled by the works of art. Staff heard about the inspiration for individual works and the techniques employed. Students in turn were thrilled with the appreciation of the staff and their genuine interest in their work.

Paul Kralj, Art Coordinator, recognised the value for students in having their works of art formally displayed in a gallery-setting.
