Ministry Formation Program’s 10th Anniversary Celebrations

On Friday 23 September Mass in the Cathedral, followed by supper in the hall, marked the 10th Anniversary of the Ministry Formation Program.  Archbishop Wilson, along with 12 priests concelebrated Mass at which prayers and music were shared in thanksgiving for the program.

The Ministry Formation Program (MFP) supports people in developing the knowledge and skills to effectively and confidently serve in parish-life and beyond. Archbishop Wilson commended all those who have taken part in the program and also those who work to make the program successful and meaningful.

The Ministry Formation Program was set up 10 years ago and it builds on the commitment of those previously engaged in the provision of seminary and church ministry programs.

Margaret Speechley, the current Director of MFP, recognised Archbishop Wilson’s vision for and support of the program. She recognised the investment in appropriate education for those involved in lay ministry in the Adelaide Archdiocese.

“I know that it is your vision for the Archdiocese - that people in lay ministry have the best possible formation and the highest possible level of Theological Study,” she said.

Margaret acknowledged the current MFP Team and those who have previously worked on the program. She paid tribute to students, both current and past, for their involvement and inspiration.

Before Archbishop Wilson cut the 10th anniversary cake, those who were involved in the liturgy preparation, especially the musicians were recognised as were those who prepared and served the supper.
