One hundred and forty Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander primary students gathered recently to celebrate ‘Ngunyawayiti Ngadluku Ngartu-itya’ (Children’s Celebration).
Seven Aboriginal leaders shared their knowledge, while the students shared stories, asked many questions and enjoyed new friendships.
Gleeson College and Cardijn College generously hosted students from Reception to Year 7 who enjoyed learning more of their cultural backgrounds.
The program focused on sustainable living and students enjoyed learning the art of hunting animals for food, preparing and cooking food in a traditional manner, weaving, language and dance.
The two day celebration concluded with a gathering where the food was tasted and all agreed it was amazing.
St Patrick’s Technical College has opened its doors this week to local primary school children to give them a real trade experience.
