On Friday night, Sacred Heart’s DeBourg Auditorium hosted the annual Arch D Radio Awards night. The red carpet event is now in its 5th year, and honours the students and old scholars of the colleges and schools in the Adelaide Archdiocese who have made the biggest impact as aspiring, and increasingly established, radio broadcasters on the 1079 Life radio show.
“We’ve had nominees from a record 8 different schools in 2019, and the quality of the student’s work on the air has never been better”, said James Meston, producer of Arch D Radio. “It’s also very exciting looking ahead this year, as the program is expanding to start producing a new podcast as well, called “School Life”. It’ll be featuring more in-depth stories, looking at the students, the schools and their communities.. what makes them unique and special”. The “School Life” podcast will launch on iTunes and Spotify in April.
Catholic Education SA Director, Neil McGoran, was at the night to present one of the awards. In addition to thanking schools, he especially thanked the parents of the students that had been involved in Arch D Radio. “As a parent you want nothing more than for your child to develop the confidence to just be that wonderful person that you know is inside of them”, said Dr McGoran. “I think that [Arch D Radio] is one very special way that this happens”.
The Arch D Radio show is produced by the Catholic Office for Youth & Young Adults and airs on 1079 Life FM every Wednesday night at 9pm and every Saturday night at 10pm. The show is also available as a podcast through iTunes & Spotify.
