Exciting new vision announced for St Catherine’s

St Catherine’s School Stirling has announced their exciting new development Masterplan with Stage 1 set to begin in 2020.

Following consultation with students, parents, staff and the community, the school Board and leadership group have worked closely with chosen architects Swanbury Penglase to create an exciting new vision for the school. The announcement of Stage 1 for 2020 represents the first step in realising that vision.

Stage 1 will see the development of two new multipurpose classrooms, extension of the school hall, a covered walkway between the existing hall and the main school building, increased undercover play spaces, an improved staffroom, two new meeting rooms and an extended breakout verandah which can be used as an outdoor classroom.

Additional developments include moving the OSHC to a much larger space with increased security and the revitalisation and re-opening of ‘The Ditch’ garden and wetlands area, including upgrading the productive garden and orchard, adding play equipment and formalising the creek into a naturalistic play system.

Revegetating The Ditch will be a parent-led project, with the parents helping to bring the vision to life via a number of working bees throughout 2020.

In Term 4 2019 the year 5/6 classrooms underwent an upgrade, including new carpets and furniture, ceilings and walls painted and enhanced acoustics. 2020 will see the provision of a senior year break-out space adjacent to the main classroom.

St Catherine’s Principal Jason Mittiga called the Masterplan “a development to inspire wonder and curiosity for students, parents and staff”.
