Teachers Preparing for Online Learning

In these rapidly changing times, Catholic Education South Australia (CESA) teachers will support students using alternative modes of lesson delivery.

Many of our primary and secondary schools have been using online learning management systems long before this current crisis, with software such as Seesaw, SEQTA and Microsoft Teams.

To build on this, CESA is taking additional steps to provide teachers with guidance and practical advice for planning, designing and delivering online learning, to ensure they are able to navigate through these changes and continue to support the learning and wellbeing of every one of our students.

Many of our schools are receiving professional learning and upgrading their skills in Microsoft Teams to further enhance the learning opportunities for children.

CESA teachers have recently taken part in webinars to learn how to use Microsoft Teams for delivering online learning, facilitated by members of CESA’s Learning and Technologies team.

‘Teacher Champions’ were nominated from 49 participating schools by their principal, to participate in the webinars and then lead the professional learning in Microsoft Teams to fellow teachers at their school.

More than 80 teachers have networked to form a virtual community to share experiences, ideas and ask questions about how best to utilise Microsoft Teams with their school communities.

It is planned that the experiences, ideas and resources developed will be shared across CESA teachers to better support students in this online environment.

For more information about the webinars or online networking, teachers can direct any enquiries to learningonline@cesa.catholic.edu.au.
