Meg Follows in Family's Footsteps at St Joseph's Barmera

Starting school is an exciting time for a child but for Meg it is it very special as she follows in the footsteps of many family members. Meg continues the family line of enrichment at St Joseph’s, Barmera. She is daring to dream the possibilities that can occur through her part in the involvement of three generations of her family who are all still very involved in the school today.

Meg’s two sisters and a brother are at St Joseph’s. Additionally her mum and uncle attended the school as did her poppa and two of his brothers. Poppa Paul Costello was part of the founding class at St Joseph’s in 1954 and accompanied Meg, along with her Mum Cheryl, for her first day.

Meg’s classroom teacher Ros Braham loves that the footsteps of the family are still alive in the school. “Poppa Paul has helped the R/1/2 students hatch out chicks in his incubator and built a hen house at school for the growing chicks.” “Mum, Cheryl is a regular weekly parent helper in our class as well as a member of the School Board,” she said.

“Meg tells me that she will have a good day but reminded me that she knows the school well!”  While she is excited to join her two sisters and brother, Meg will be a vibrant member in our school and keen to leave her mark, Ros said.

In the words of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, "I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God, who is sending a love letter to the world."
