Primary Students Get Imaginative

Something very exciting has just arrived at the Nazareth Catholic College Primary Campus – Imagination Playground Equipment. Thanks to the City of Charles Sturt and the OPAL Obesity, Prevention and Lifestyle program, Nazareth Primary campus has this equipment to use for the next month, and each class will have a turn in using it. Imagination Playground is a mobile play system made up of big blue blocks in many unique shapes and sizes. Using Imagination Playground blocks, children aged 2 – 12 can transfer any environment into a play space that encourages learning, social development, movement and above all, fun.

Matthew Rowlands, Director of Student Development at Nazareth, believes that this innovative play equipment is an enriching platform for developing cognitive and social skills. “Imagination Playground allows kids to explore their own thinking on a larger concrete scale. It allows for team building and communication, and it is so valuable across all year levels because the design complexity increases with the age of the kids” he says.

But teachers aren’t the only ones who can appreciate the equipment’s benefits. “The best thing about it is it’s so fun, and we can play and build together!” said a group of Nazareth Year 3 students as they arranged the blocks to create a robot.

Imagination Playground has enabled the Nazareth Primary students to enjoy a profusion of new educational experiences. The equipment will be available for the whole Nazareth Community to enjoy at the upcoming Community Fair on 29th March.

During school terms, Charles Sturt Council loan Imagination Playground equipment to schools and early childhood centres within the Charles Sturt OPAL area. For details on loaning the Imagination Playground, you can visit http://www.charlessturt.sa.gov.au/page.aspx?u=892
