The foundations have been poured and in a matter of months the doors will open to the Cardijn College, Noarlunga Downs, Specialist Music Centre. The new centre will be home to the College Music students and the Music Department.
David Gauci, Coordinator of Extra Curricular Music, explained that there will be six fully integrated practice rooms which at the touch of a button will transform into a large scale main recording studio. This studio can further expand beyond the walls of the Music Centre, into the College Gymnasium, creating more space and giving Cardijn media and technology students the ability to record ensembles and soloists at various performances.
David is excited about the scope that the Centre will provide:
“Once open the Music Centre will boast state of the art facilities to cater for the current and future curriculum of music. It will include a dedicated space for music performance with retractable seating, space for a full concert orchestra and full digital LED lighting and audio”, he said.
The builders, Hansen Yuncken have been involved in the building of state icons such as the new Police Headquarters in Adelaide and the new Royal Adelaide Hospital.
The Cardijn Music Centre is due to open later this year.
