Local Member and Marine Discovery Centre Ambassador Paul Caica MP, organised the State Minister for Education, Susan Close MP, to visit the Marine Discovery Centre, Star of the Sea School, Henley Beach on Monday last, 18 May. Susan seemed genuinely keen to support the Centre. Visitors to the Marine Discovery Centre are from Catholic, State and Independent Schools.
Brilliant Year 7 Marine Leaders, Lilli and Alana, showed special guests around the Centre highlighting the marine creatures and interactive models. They also viewed a short video-clip which highlighted the outstanding long term relationship the Marine Discovery Centre has with the City of Charles Sturt.
Christine Henderson, Chair of Star of the Sea School Board, Matt Perry, Deputy Principal, and Ursula Quack, Office Manager, helped to plan and support this special event.
Recently, Joe De Tullio (Principal) and Tim Hoile (Director) presented at a Council Meeting for the City of Charles Sturt (CCS) as we are seeking further annual support for the Marine Discovery Centre. The Centre will complete three years of support from the City of Charles Sturt on June 30 which has been $25K per year. The Marine Discovery Centre has requested a further sponsorship of $20K for the next three years. Paul Caica has provided an outstanding letter of support for the request to Council.
