Gleeson College Year 9 students Tyler Dunlop and Caitlyn Monga have been selected to participate in the Concept 2 Creation STEM Sista Program in 2015.
STEM Sista is a student development program for girls, designed to predominately target three key aspects: understanding themselves and others, where they can go in the STEM field which explores engineering pathways and also provides an overview of engineering roles. The aim of the program is to develop young women to realise they can be more and do more and ultimately achieve the goals they set for themselves in STEM related careers.
Tyler and Caitlyn have shown dedication to their Design and Technology Studies over the past two years and they have each displayed a keen interest in Mathematics and Science. This has supported them in their successful applications into what will be a unique and valuable experience. Congratulations go to both Tyler and Caitlyn on their outstanding achievements including acceptance into STEM Sistas.
Four Catholic schools across South Australia have been awarded $6.34 million in grants for capital works to improve learning spaces, increase opportunities for disadvantaged students and cater for more diverse learning needs.
The State Government grants — $6.34 million for Catholic schools and $6.38 million for independent schools — are for building projects to commence over the next year.
Introduced in 2018 to ensure all students have access to a first-class education, the latest funding under the scheme has been approved for four projects at Catholic schools and 103 smaller projects at independent schools.
