Catholic schools across SA open their doors for Catholic Schools Open Week

Choosing a school for your child is one of the biggest decisions you make as a parent. In South Australia, families have a wide range of schooling options, including a Catholic Education.

Catholic Education South Australia (CESA) is making it easy to explore the benefits of a Catholic education by opening the doors at its 103 Catholic schools across SA during its annual Catholic Schools Open Week.

From August 22 to 28, Catholic schools, including those in regional areas, will host over 100 open days and school tours, inviting all parents and carers considering schooling options for their family to come and discover why a Catholic education is a choice worth making.

“Catholic Schools Open Week is an opportunity for any parent considering a Catholic education for their family to meet their local Catholic school and discover what a Catholic education can offer their child,” says Dr Neil McGoran, Director, Catholic Education South Australia.

“As an educational sector we are committed to providing excellence for every child and young person whose learning and education is entrusted to our care. Our learning experiences are grounded in Catholic values and beliefs. We want every student to experience success according to their unique characteristics and talent.”

As part of Catholic Schools Open Week, Catholic education is ‘front and centre’ in communities right across the state this month in a major advertising campaign - the largest ever promotion run by CESA.

Over 100 students from Catholic schools throughout the State participated in photo shoots earlier this year. Almost a quarter of the students featured in the campaign are from regional and rural schools.

Open Week provides an opportunity for interested families and students to discover more about CESA’s newest schools. St Francis of Assisi College at Renmark opened in 2022 offering Years 7 and 8 education, with a year level to be added annually until 2026. The College will host Principal’s Tours on August 25 for families across the Riverland to explore the new facilities and see the growing College community in action.

Also opened in 2022, Compass Catholic Community at Davoren Park is hosting daily Information Sessions from August 22 to 25. The fee-free, co-educational school provides an alternative education option for young people aged 17 to 24 who have not thrived in mainstream school.

Over a dozen events are planned in regional and rural schools with other schools offering individual tours on request.
