Catholic Schools around the State are celebrating Children’s Book Week; the longest running children’s literary event in Australia, in this its 70th year. This year’s theme “Books Light Up Our World” is connected with the International Year of Light.
With the library decorated to celebrate Book Week, St John the Baptist School, Plympton has a range of exciting activities taking place for all throughout the week The week was launched with a book week assembly. At the assembly it was announced that students had voted “Pig the Pug” by Aaron Blabey as the most popular book in the school.
Everyone is looking forward to Friday when the community will gather for the Book Week parade. Staff members enjoyed a delicious morning tea prepared by Mrs Gauro. The community recognised the work of Mrs Gill, Mrs Gauro and Mrs Schulz in making Book Week a highlight of the school year.
Twenty students from Catholic schools in South Australia have been named among the winners in two major state-wide Humanities competitions.
Earlier this year, senior school students from across South Australia were invited to enter the 2024 Premier’s Anzac Spirit School Prize and the Muriel Matters Awards.
