Twenty one South Australian Catholic schools, and close to 1000 children took part in the South Australian Catholic Primary Schools Sports Association (SACPSSA) Handball Carnival at Cabra College from 19 to 21 October.
Cabra students greatly assisted the smooth running of the carnival, including umpiring over the three days. They were polite, helpful and a pleasure to work with. These outstanding students played a huge role in the carnival being such a success over the three days.
Students from the 21 schools also represented their communities excellently, showing courage and determination under some tough weather conditions. On Monday, children played all day in hot, 30 degree plus conditions and strong winds. Tuesday and Wednesday were quite wet and children often had to play in the rain and on wet courts.
The SACPSSA committee is grateful to Flavio Zandona, staff member at Cabra who coordinated the Cabra students who umpired during the carnival. Additionally they commend both Jamie Mulcahy and Jeanette Archer who coordinated a most successful carnival.
Finally the committee once again thanks Cabra College for hosting this major event on the SACPSSA calendar at their lovely school. SACPSSA looks forward to working with Cabra and their students in the future.
Twenty students from Catholic schools in South Australia have been named among the winners in two major state-wide Humanities competitions.
Earlier this year, senior school students from across South Australia were invited to enter the 2024 Premier’s Anzac Spirit School Prize and the Muriel Matters Awards.
