Starting School Next July?

Catholic schools across South Australia offer a mid-year Reception enrolment intake for students who turn five on or before October 31.

Reception students who join a 2025 mid-year intake at a Diocesan Catholic school will get free tuition in Terms 3 and 4.

Why a Mid-Year intake?

There is a large body of research that shows the benefit of high quality early learning and care experiences for children in their first 1,000 days of life, and in the years prior to school.

Students who start in Term 3 are likely to spend 18 months in Reception before progressing to Year 1.

Why free tuition for Terms 3 and 4 2025?

This initiative of the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools (SACCS) aims to reduce the financial burden on families.

All Diocesan schools will offer the 2025 Term 3 Reception intake to parents and carers free of charge. The free intake includes tuition fees and compulsory charges. It excludes uniforms and extra-curricular costs.

“This decision is part of our continued response as we seek to support families at a time when they are being financially impacted by the effects of rising living costs and inflation. The free mid-year Reception initiative has been extremely popular in previous years, so we are delighted to be offering it again in 2025.” says Dr Neil McGoran, Executive Director, Catholic Education South Australia.

When can your child start school?

Most Catholic schools offer two intakes per year for children starting Reception.

Term 1 enrolment - for children who turn five years on or before April 30.
