Position Overview

 

Cardijn College is seeking a dedicated and experienced People and Culture Advisor to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role provides support in fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture aligned with the values of our Catholic ethos.

 

This permanent full-time position will support the interpretation, implementation and administration of the college policies, procedures and the Enterprise Agreement. This role will triage enquiries and provide advice and support to leadership and staff whilst being responsible for the maintenance of employment-related systems and processes to support all facets of the employee lifecycle.

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Recruitment: Support recruitment processes, develop and review PIDs, prepare employment contracts, support coordination of student teacher practicums, continually review recruitment processes.
  • Onboarding and Offboarding: Manage onboarding of new hires including employment related documentation, support the induction process including WHS and ensure compliance with relevant organisations.   
  • POR Appointments: Develop and maintain electronic records for POR tenures and coordinate POR review meetings.
  • Child Protection: Process applications, screenings and maintenance of clearances including databases for all staff, volunteers and contractors ensuring compliance of necessary qualifications and training.
  • Curriculum Extension: Support and understand the CEA process for allowances.
  • Annual Performance Reviews: Support the administration, delivery and coordination of the APR cycle.
  • General P&C Duties: Perform duties to support the employee life cycle.

About You

 

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Hold a Diploma in Human Resources and/or equivalent relevant demonstrated knowledge and experience.
  • Have Human Resources  generalist background and demonstrated knowledge, skills, and practical experience in supporting strategic and operational human resource activities to effectively support the school's mission and values.
  • Be proficient across human resources  disciplines such as recruitment, employee/industrial relations, and performance management, complemented by a sound knowledge of contemporary human resource practices, standards, and statutory requirements. Experience working in an education environment and/or with enterprise agreements and unions is highly desirable. 
  • High level of confidentiality, trust, integrity, and work ethic, with ability to work under minimal direction and be accountable for own outcomes as well as positively work closely with and support school leadership.
  • Have a strong commitment to student health and well-being, with experience in first aid and emergency care.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to develop a positive rapport with others to build credible, trusting and respectful relationships.
  • Able to initiate, analyse, design, plan, execute and evaluate human resources and employee/industrial relations matters and generate and evaluate ideas through analysis of information and concepts to meet the needs of the school.
  • Comprehensive administration and organisational capabilities to successfully manage work planning and achieve required work outcomes. This includes undertaking research and investigations which may be extensive.
  • High level proficiency in MS Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and ability to efficiently navigate databases and systems.
  • Demonstrate an active commitment to ongoing professional learning and timely completion of required training, and participate in professional (and other) reviews, as applicable.
  • Share a commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of Cardijn College.
