  • Fixed Term Contract (With the potential to move to permanancy)

  • Salary ESO Grade 3, $73,425

Join our dedicated Maintenance Team team as a Grounds Officer and contribute to the upkeep and enhancement of our vibrant school community across three unique campuses.

Position Summary

As a Grounds Officer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and improving the grounds and facilities across our three campuses. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, working outdoors, and contributing to a positive school environment.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Maintain lawns, gardens, and outdoor areas to a high standard across all campuses.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, cleaning, and rubbish removal.
  • Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, and power tools.
  • Assist with the setup and pack-down of outdoor events and activities.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the Facilities team to support campus needs.

About you

We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual who:

  • Has experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field.
  • Possesses strong practical skills and a hands-on approach to work.
  • Is able to perform manual labor.
  • Holds a current driver’s license and has access to reliable transport.
  • Is adaptable and able to manage priorities across multiple campuses.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to workplace safety and attention to detail.

Desirable: (but not essential)

  • Experience working in a school or similar environment.
  • Relevant trade qualifications or certifications in horticulture or groundskeeping.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Coordinator, you collaborate effectively with fellow Maintenance Officers, contributing to a cohesive team that prioritises safety and operational excellence. Your attention to detail and dedication to maintaining a positive learning environment greatly enhance the experience for both students and staff.

Specific Requirements

  • Current car drivers license.
  • Applicable First Aid Certificate relevant to the role requirements.
  • Current and acceptable Working with Children Clearance
  • Screening to work in Catholic Education SA (The college can initiate this for you)
  • Current valid Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care certificate.
  • Able to undertake specific training relevant to role e.g. working at heights, safe work on ladders etc.
