Position Overview
The Middle Years Teacher for Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) and English plays a key role in fostering a positive learning environment. The position involves collaborating with school leaders, colleagues, and parents to enhance student learning and educational initiatives. The teacher is responsible for creating personalised learning programs, assessing student progress, and maintaining records. Building strong relationships with students and families, promoting inclusivity, and managing classroom behavior are essential. The teacher may also take on additional non-instructional duties. This role is ideal for an educator dedicated to empowering middle years students through quality education.
Key Responsibilities
You will collaborates with leaders, colleagues, and parents to enhance student learning and support education reform.
- Applying effective curriculum knowledge and teaching methods.
- Ensuring an inclusive learning environment that meets diverse learner needs.
- Developing positive working relationships.
- Creating relevant learning programs, including personalised plans as needed.
- Assessing and reporting on student progress.
- Establishing processes for a productive classroom.
- Implementing behavior management strategies for a safe learning space.
- Maintaining confidentiality of student information.
- Taking on additional non-instructional duties as required.

- Qualifications: Current Teachers Registration in South Australia, Teacher Accreditation in Catholic Education and relevant mandatory training.
Specific Requirements
- Working With Children Check and Catholic Police Clearance to work in Catholic Education SA.
- Current valid Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care certificate.
- Approved Mandatory Notification training.
- Applicable First Aid Certificate relevant to the role requirements. Acquire and maintain (with the support of the College)

Essential Selection Criteria
- Current Teacher Registration in South Australia and relevant demonstrated knowledge and experience.
- Teacher Accreditation in Catholic Education SA.
- Active support for the Catholic ethos and the College Mission and Values.
- Significant and relevant experience of and commitment to the development and formation of staff.
- Significant experience in the strategic staff development and frameworks to achieve high-quality teaching that supports learning environments and learning outcomes.
- Exceptional teaching and learning practices relevant to secondary schooling in a co-educational setting.
- Proven ability to build relationships between students, parents/caregivers and staff.
- Ability to translate vision into action and inspire, engage and lead others in an innovative manner.
- High-level organisational skills with demonstrated ability to plan strategically, problem solve, prioritise, work to deadlines to achieve quality outcomes, give attention to detail and relate tasks/actions to a wider strategic improvement context.
- High-level written and oral communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills with a demonstrated capacity to cooperate and communicate effectively with people at all levels.
