Role Details

Xavier College is seeking a dedicated Work Health and Safety (WHS) Coordinator to lead the implementation and maintenance of WHS compliance across the College. Reporting to the Risk and Compliance Manager, the WHS Coordinator will play a vital role in fostering a safe, welcoming, and proactive environment for students, staff, and wider community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement WHS policies and procedures in line with legislative requirements
  • Conduct WHS risk assessments, audits, and inspections
  • Investigate incidents, hazards, and injuries, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Carry out WHS training for staff contractors, and volunteers as required, maintaining accurate records
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to support injury management and return-to-work processes
  • Maintain WHS documentation and compliance systems to ensure up-to-date accuracy
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the College
  • Work collaboratively with the Facilities Operations Manager and property services staff to ensure a safe working environment for staff and students 

About you:

We are seeking a proactive and highly organised individual with strong understanding of WHS legislation and best practices. You will have exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment. You will bring a high level of professionalism, confidentiality and empathy to your work, and demonstrate a strong commitment to the Catholic ethos and the values of Xavier College.

What you need to be successful

  • Formal tertiary qualification (minimum certification IV) in Work Health and Safety and/or relevant demonstrated knowledge and experience in comparable role
  • Demonstrated highly developed knowledge and experience with WHS legislation and practice
  • Advance knowledge of MS Word, Excel and database competency
  • Willingness to positively participate in required training, as required
  • Will work in a positive and collaborative capacity across all campuses of the College
  • Have a current full SA drivers license 
  • Respond to emergency situations in a calm and professional manner
