Role Details

Xavier College now invites applications from experienced classroom support staff to join our Evanston (R-6) Campus as Education Support Officer – Curriculum.  This is a replacement position (replacing a permanent staff member on approved leave), commencing 28 February 2025 until 16 January 2026.

As ESO – Curriculum, you will play a key role in supporting classroom operations, assisting students individually and in groups, and contributing to the overall learning experience. Under the supervision of a teacher, you will help create engaging learning materials, provide direct student support, and contribute to College activities such as excursions and sports days. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist student learning by preparing resources, classroom materials, and learning aids
  • Support students in small groups or individually under teacher guidance
  • Help teachers with student supervision during excursions, sports activities, and school events
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and the College community
  • Assist students with special care needs, including personal care if requires

About you

Successful applicants will:

  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Have strong organisation skills and an attention to detail
  • Be proactive and have a supportive approach to teamwork 
  • Have the ability to collaborate effectively and also work autonomously

What you need to be successful

  • Availability to work for the above stated period 
  • Possess or work towards Certificate III in Education Support (or equivalent) 
  • Be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, and a proven ability to quickly develop strong working relationships with students, teachers, leaders and the wider College community
  • Be reliable, fully available for the advertised hours of work and ultimately a ‘team player’ with a ‘can do’ attitude
