Role Details

Full-time (FTE 1.0) Contract Role for Terms 2 and 3, 2025.

Blackfriars is an independent Catholic School under the governance of the Dominican Friars, committed to providing a well-rounded education that caters specifically to the needs of boys: academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually. We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Year 5/6 Primary Teacher to join our dedicated team for Terms 2 and 3, 2025.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a supportive and engaging learning environment, delivering innovative lessons, and inspiring students to reach their full potential. 

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver comprehensive learning programs aligned with the Australian Curriculum.
• Address students' varying intellectual, emotional, and physical abilities.
• Foster positive and effective relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Create a safe, orderly, and supportive learning environment.
• Implement behaviour management strategies consistent with school policies.
• Accurately assess, record, and report student achievement.
• Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher interviews, and other school events.

Essential Criteria

• Registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia.
• Strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and contemporary teaching practices.
• Ability to develop and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to use Information and Communication Technologies effectively in teaching and learning.
• Current Working With Children Check and Responding to Abuse and Neglect (RAN) training.

Desirable Attributes

• Experience teaching Year 5/6 students.
• Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
• Capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• A commitment to fostering the Catholic and Dominican values of the school.
