Alive Catholic Early Learning Centre at Mount Barker are currently recruiting for a number of Early Childhood Educators to complete our team. Since the purpose built, architecturally designed Centre opened in 2021, enrolments have steadily grown to reach capacity with close to 80 children per day including a waitlist for most rooms.

Co-located with St Francis de Sales College, learning programs cater for children from 6 months to Preschool. We work in collaboration with the school to provide a supportive, curriculum rich environment, that offers children and families learning continuity from Early Learning to Reception and beyond.

Essential qualifications

  • Diploma qualified
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance for South Australia
  • First Aid ACECQA approved qualification – HTLAID012
  • Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care
  • Evidence of vaccination against COVID-19 or the provision of a valid medical exemption

About the role/s

We have a permanent position available to work across our baby room (6 months - 2 years of age) and preschool room (4- 5 years of age). We are looking for people who are passionate about children’s development and enjoy contributing in a team environment to progress the learning outcomes for each child. With a strong focus on inclusive education within our Centre, applicants who view all children as competent and capable and who can build on a child’s strengths are encouraged to apply.

Ten years ago, a unique cross-sector initiative between Catholic, public and independent schools in South Australia was established to certify teachers as Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers (HALT).

Fast forward to November 2024 and Catholic Education SA (CESA) is delighted to announce its 100th certified HALT teacher; Penny Bateman, from Xavier College, Gawler Belt campus. Penny, who holds the position of English Curriculum Leader, began her teaching career in 2021 and started her HALT certification this year. Receiving HALT certification means that Penny will now be able to mentor colleagues in the process and provide expert guidance on evidence-based teaching practices while fostering professional growth within her department.

Four Catholic schools across South Australia have been awarded $6.34 million in grants for capital works to improve learning spaces, increase opportunities for disadvantaged students and cater for more diverse learning needs.

The State Government grants — $6.34 million for Catholic schools and $6.38 million for independent schools — are for building projects to commence over the next year.

Introduced in 2018 to ensure all students have access to a first-class education, the latest funding under the scheme has been approved for four projects at Catholic schools and 103 smaller projects at independent schools.
