Students from six schools in the South East of Adelaide will take part in a Mass at St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral on May 18.
More than 500 upper primary students are expected to attend from:
The event is part of Catholic Education Week celebrations. Students from each school will take responsibility for the various readings and responses.
“The Leadership Team in the South Eastern region meet regularly as a professional network,” explains Amanda Humeniuk, Principal at St Therese School.
“The Mass is a way of us making visible our connections and the work we do as Catholic Education South Australia,” says Amanda.
“Our school is going to make a day of it. Students will take a tour of the Cathedral and go to the market.”
Phil Schultz, Principal at St Joseph’s School, Kingswood, says the Year 5 students who attend will be part of the first group of Year 7 students to transition to secondary settings in 2019.
“This gathering will also provide an opportunity for current students from neighbouring schools to get to know each other prior to the move,” explains Phil.
