CESA announces new Director

Leading education administrator Dr Neil McGoran has been appointed to the position of Director of Catholic Education SA (CESA).

Dr McGoran is currently the Chief Executive of the SACE Board of South Australia, a position he has held since 2013, where he has been instrumental in leading a program of transformational change.

Previous to this he was the principal at Nazareth Catholic College Secondary Campus at Flinders Park.

As an educator, he is interested in the needs of young people in the 21st Century, in the context of an evolving, globally-focused and digital world. Dr McGoran has 25 years’ experience in education in a variety of roles including teacher, principal, senior administration and management. Announcing the appointment today, Adelaide Vicar General Father Philip Marshall said his extensive knowledge in strategic planning would be vital in building on the work of the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools’ Strategy for Leading Catholic Education to New Levels of Excellence. CESA is responsible for 103 Catholic schools comprising 46,000 students and 6000 staff across metropolitan and regional SA.

Dr McGoran will take up the position in early September, replacing interim director Mr Bruno Vieceli.
