Students from St Michael’s College have had success in this month’s Brain Bee - a quiz-based challenge about all things “Neuroscience”.
St Michael’s College had four students qualify for the individual and team challenges in the event held last Friday.
Francesco Ciampa was crowned 2017 SA Brain Bee Challenge State Champion. He will go on to be the sole representative from SA in the National Championships in December. The winner of the National Championships will be awarded an all-expenses paid trip to represent Australia in the International Brain Bee Championships in the USA.
The SMC team, including Joshua Larven, Aiden Burgess, Vincenzo Triulcio and Francesco Ciampa, also did well finishing in third place in the Team Challenge.
In addition to the Brain Bee Challenges, the students experienced a key note speaker and presentations from Neuroscience Professors from SA Universities. They also went on a tour of the Neuroscience Labs in the Adelaide University Medical School and participated in a Q&A with current PhD students about their studies and pathways into Neuroscience.
St Joseph's Port Lincoln scholar, Jarrad Elson has written a brilliant children's book that is due to be released in December.
