As part of the progressive nature of the Yellakka Yellarkarri Student Leadership Program, six Aboriginal students from five Catholic schools recently spent three days on the Yorke Peninsula deepening and honing their leadership skills and knowledges about culture and tradition - celebrating their Aboriginal heritages.
Highlights of the camp included being welcomed by and connecting with Narrunga elder Quenten Agius and his grandchildren.
Thank you to Tiahna (Our Lady of Sacred Heart), Freddy (Rostrevor College), Maja and Sara (St Aloyisus College), Ronan (Sacred Heart College) and Elijah (St Columba College) for embracing all aspects of the program and making us proud!
The camp was facilitated by Roma Aloisi and Jonathan Lindsay-Tjapaltjarri Hermawan and had the support of Kira Bain (Tauondi Aboriginal College), Matthew Jolly (ATSI Education Team, CESA) and Jazz Hanson (Yellakka Yellarkarri Alumni).
Over 45 hampers were lovingly donated and prepared last week by students, their families and college staff for specific families in need - making Christmas just a little bit brighter for them!
