Identity Explorers wins 'Best Primary School Exhibition'

Teachers and students from St Brigid’s School, Kilburn went along to the Art Gallery SALA Awards ceremony to enjoy looking at the entries… imagine their surprise and excitement when it was announced that their school had won the ‘Best Primary School Exhibition' award for their SALA Exhibit ‘Identity Explorers’.

The South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival is a state-wide festival of Visual Art. St Brigid’s School exhibit was centred around the concept of ‘Identity’ – a school-wide focus this year. All students submitted a piece of art in the exhibition and works were also contributed by staff and families. It was a true community event!

At the awards ceremony, Nicholas Linke - Chair of the SALA Festival, expressed how impressed he was by the creativity of the St Brigid’s community and he acknowledged the dedication and passion of teachers and staff at the school.

St Brigid’s were awarded $1250 from Credit Union SA to spend on art supplies and resources as part of the Best Primary School Exhibition. Their amazing artwork will be remounted for display in the Festival Centre for the duration of the Dream Big Festival 2019.

Over 130 exhibitions were showcased as part of the SALA Festival 2018. Some of the amazing works created by students at St Brigid's are featured in the gallery below:
