The Federation of Catholic School Parent Communities (SA) 2015 Tom Ffrench Awards for Family Engagement in Catholic Education SA were announced during the Federation’s Annual Conference on 30 May 2015.The 2015 School Wide Award was presented to St Joseph’s, Hindmarsh for its Partners in Conversation – Connecting Learning at Home and School initiative to enhance the school’s partnership with the parent community.
Port Pirie’s St Mark's College, Bosco Campus (High School), was involved in Catholic Education Week in a range of ways, as was the Benedict campus. At the Bosco campus everyone celebrated with a Rainbow Casual Day, a blanket drive resulting in over 70 blankets being donated and fundraising events including a "Footy Kick to Kick Competition".
Catholic education in the South Australian city of Port Pirie “owes its existence” to the Sisters of the Good Samaritan, according to Brenda Keenan, Director of Catholic Education in the Port Pirie Diocese.

The response from St Albert’s community was nothing short of extraordinary. They collected over 30 blankets for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal and raised in excess of $400 for the Caritas Australia Nepalese Earthquake Appeal.
In front of 1,100 guests that gathered at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Wednesday, 27 May, two Year 9 students from Mount Carmel College, Danielle and Rachel braved the stage and wowed the audience with a speech about what reconciliation means to them and how it is embraced by all at Mount Carmel College.
Loreto College celebrated National Reconciliation Week with the blessing of its Indigenous Garden, Mika Kurruru (Kaurna for ‘Open Circle’); a beautiful addition to the College’s Heritage Garden. It was the culmination of a two-year project, which saw collaboration between the College’s Science faculty and Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) group with a Scientist in Residence, Mrs Dolores Amos, and Aboriginal artist, Mr Chris Crebbin.
Year 3/4 Teacher, Lauren Buchanan, from St Teresa's School, Brighton, was recently voted "South Australian Athlete of the Year" and won the “Female Short Sprint Award” at the South Australian Athletics League Dinner. This is wonderful achievement that topped off an amazing Professional Running 2014/15 season.
One of the roles of the CESA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Team is to tailor programs specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander secondary students in Catholic schools. The aim of these programs is to develop the leadership skills of secondary students, build self-esteem, and emphasize the importance of doing well in their studies and to broaden their knowledge about the opportunities available for tertiary study, training and employment at the end of their secondary schooling
To mark Reconciliation Week, on the 22nd Anniversary of Mabo, 3 June, a representative group of staff from the Catholic Education Office joined together in a time of prayer in the Queen of Angels Church, Thebarton.
Alexander Makarowsky, a 2014 Nazareth Catholic College Graduate has demonstrated outstanding success. On 27 May at a ceremony held at St Marks College, Adelaide, the Nazareth Community were very proud to witness Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Hawker family member Hon David Hawker AO present Alex and four other scholars from around Australia, with the The C.A.S. Hawker Scholarship valued at $60,000 over 4 years.
