St Brigid's School is a vibrant, co-educational Catholic school from Reception to Year 6, rooted in faith, community, and striving for academic excellence. The school is dedicated to educating the whole child in a warm and welcoming community, providing students with a strong foundation for life.
An exciting opportunity exists to join our community in the dual role of Education Support Officer WHS co-ordinator and ESO Curriculum. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a high level of organisational skills and the ability to multitask. This role will be for 37.5 hours per week for 41 weeks per year with 15 hours WHS coordinator and 22.5 hours as ESO (Curriculum)
For the WHS role, the successful applicant will:
- Possess the ability to form positive working relationships with staff and the wider school community.
- Provide an effective WHS service within the context of the legislative requirements, applicable to the role to ensure the school’s obligations are met.
- In collaboration with the Principal and CSHWSA Consultants, lead the development and maintenance of best practice WHS culture and practice.
- Ensure that all staff, contractors, and volunteers, are appropriately inducted/trained to use designated places, materials and equipment safely within the school.
- Undertake WHS risk assessments, audits and inspections on a regular basis, and as required, assist in the investigation of hazards, incidents, injuries or near misses and liaise as required to ensure corrective action appropriate to the situation occurs. Ensure that relevant WHS registers and records are maintained.
For the ESO curriculum role, the successful applicant will:
- Actively support and contribute to the Catholic ethos of St Brigid's.
- Ability to work under the direction of and collaboratively with the Inclusive Education coordinator, teachers and other Support Officers to support successful learning and wellbeing outcomes;
- Apply personal knowledge and initiative to modify education programs to meet learning needs of specific students
- Support student learning, either individually or in groups with minimul guidance
- Assess and report on intervention programmes to relevalent staff emmbers ie teachers and leadership
- Carry out a wide variety of tasks associated with classroom learning experiences (e.g. assisting teachers in preparing, implementing and supervising classrooms and/or intervention programs).
- Assist in the daily administrative operations.
- Develop positive relationships with students, parents and staff.
The role and responsibilities will be tailored to the right candidate.
Additional Information
Must have or be willing to obtain
- A Certificate in Education Support (or equivalent) or other associated qualification relevant for a WHS position or a school setting is preferred, however, previously demonstrated experience working in a WHS role and a classroom support role will also be considered.
- Hold a current acceptable Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance & screening to work in Catholic Education South Australia.
- Responding to the Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect Training - Education and Care (RRHAN-EC)
- First Aid Certificate (HLTAID012)
