Kiribati is a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean, between Hawaii and Australia, situated at the intersection of the equator and the International Date Line. The islands are scattered over more than five million square kilometres of ocean. Located in the equatorial region, Kiribati's climate is tempered by the easterly trade winds, and humidity is high during the November to April rainy season.

Kiribati was an invaluable experience, and a real emotional rollercoaster. It was amazing seeing how happy the children were with the simple things they have, and the enthusiasm shown towards learning. I reflect on this daily and remind myself how lucky I am.

This activity was coordinated by School Captain, Millie Russell, after her leadership conference for Josephite Student Leaders in Sydney, and was supported by the rest of the Year 12 Student Leadership Team.
