‘Called to Love’ was the theme expressed at our Southern Vales Regional Youth Mass held on Thursday 19 May at Cardijn College, in celebration of Catholic Education Week and recognition of the International World Youth Day event being held in Krakow, Poland, from July 25-31.

Catholic Education Week in the Diocese of Port Pire began in a very special way on Friday 13 May. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College received a grant from the Sidney Myer Foundation to build capacity in teachers. This grant enables the school to ensure that teachers are continually improving what they do. The project is called “High quality teaching through peer observation”. The College is working with neighbouring Catholic primary schools as part of the project.

Brenda Keenan, Director of Catholic Education for the Port Pirie Diocese tells us that during Catholic Education Week 2016 schools in the Port Pirie Diocese are invited to celebrate and share how they are ‘Opening Doors of Mercy’. While each of our schools across the diocese has its own identity, we all share the same overarching goal of the promotion of the human person – our students are the centre of all our endeavours within the schools.
